The Graduate School Professional Development programs
The Graduate school offers features that provide NC State graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with support throughout their graduate academic tenure and establish a competitive edge for employment. There are currently four programs available to students centered on career readiness, leadership, teaching, writing and wellness.
Career Readiness Program for Non-Academic Careers
As a graduate student, you possess a wealth of skills and knowledge that is highly sought after in various industries and sectors outside of traditional academic settings. Whether you aspire to work in technology, government, non-profit organizations, or the private sector, the NC State Graduate School's Professional Development team can equip you with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to navigate and thrive in careers outside of academia. Two notable programs are the Career Readiness Certificate and the Accelerate to Industry (A2i) program.
Preparing for the Professoriate
Preparing the Professoriate is a nationally recognized program designed to give exceptional doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars an immersive mentoring, teaching, and future faculty preparation experience. It provides fellows with a hands-on teaching opportunity under the direction of a distinguished faculty mentor recognized for their teaching skills. This is a selective program and the teaching opportunity can count for 885: Doctoral Supervised Teaching credit.
