Program Committee Election Procedures
Each year in the spring one CRDM Program Faculty member from Communication and one CRDM Program Faculty member from English will be elected to three-year terms beginning the following fall; consecutive terms are allowed.
Nominations and voting are program-wide, that is, CRDM Program Core Faculty in each department are entitled to nominate and vote for members from both departments.
The nomination and election process will be handled by a subcommittee of the Program Committee consisting of one member from each department, determined by the members of the Program Committee or appointed by the Director. The Elections Subcommittee will announce a one-week nomination period during which nominations will be solicited from the entire Program Faculty. Nominees must consent to run and to serve a three-year term. Self-nominations are allowed.
If only one faculty member from a department is nominated, he or she will be elected to the committee.
If there is more than one nomination from a department, the Elections Subcommittee will email a ballot to the entire Program Faculty with a one-week voting period. The Subcommittee will count the ballots and report the results to the Program Director and the Program Committee. If there is no majority, a run-off ballot will be conducted under the same conditions. In the case of a tie, the Director will invite the two candidates to a coin toss.
Approved by the CRDM Program Committee, 7 September 2006.
