Raleigh has a number of world-class performing arts organizations.
Local Performing Arts Organizations
NC Symphony: Founded in 1932, the North Carolina Symphony performs over 300 concerts a year.
Durham Performing Arts Center: Durham Performing Arts Center is regularly ranked among the top-five performing arts centers in the United States. It hosts over 250 performances a year, including touring Broadway productions, concerts, comedy events, and family shows.
NC Opera: In 2010, the Opera Company of North Carolina and the Capital Opera Raleigh merged to create the North Carolina Opera (NCO). The NCO is dedicated to the community, advocating that opera is for everyone.
Durham Jazz Workshop: The Durham Jazz Workshop offers live jazz performances and jazz education.
Arts NC State: The arts are a vital part of education, and NC State University recognizes the importance of fostering arts programs—both for our students and for the larger community. Arts NC State invites all students (regardless of their major) and the community to participate in arts programs and productions. Programs include the Crafts Center, the Dance Program, the Gregg Museum of Art & Design, the Department of Music, NC State LIVE, and University Theatre.
Carolina Ballet: One of America’s premier arts organizations, the Carolina Ballet showcases classics as well as new works. They also work in collaboration with the School of Carolina Ballet, training young and emerging dancers.
Music Venues: There are many music venues in the Triangle, including the Red Hat Amphitheater downtown, the Coastal Credit Union Music Park, and Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
