Today’s digital world is built for smooth, automated control, driven by profit and colonial history. These systems often ignore the reality of the people who actually use them—those who have to fix, repurpose, or rebel against technology just to survive. Circuit Breakers is a call to action to dismantle these rigid structures together.

This year’s symposium shifted the focus toward intentional disruption. Instead of viewing glitches or “broken” systems as failures, we saw them as vital opportunities to build new worlds. By drawing on rhetoric, media studies, and hands-on “critical making,” we explored how “disobedient” designs can challenge the status quo.
