We extended a warm invitation to all CRDM members, faculty and students, to our inaugural Short Circuits event on October 29th in the Circuit Studio, located in Rick’s Annex.

Short Circuits is an informal series of short talks and discussions where CRDM students, faculty, and friends can present drafts, brainstorms, or experiments in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. Our first presenters were Dr. David Rieder (ENG Faculty) and Bee Rinaldi (CRDM 4th Year Candidate).

  • Dr. David Rieder will be giving a short demo of a “Python Based Rhetorical Analysis Toolkit” that can be used for print-based text and speech performance. He will display how it works, the ways that LLMs helped in the creation, and how he uses it in his own work.
  • Bee Rinaldi will be presenting “apothec.ia and cross-paradigm programming,” which will go over the process of developing a toybox programming language for their dissertation. The programming language is designed to highlight queer and posthuman approaches to programming language design.
