Hannah Mayfield’s research largely focuses on critical media studies, with interests in participatory culture, gender, and play, with particular attention to the use and treatment of bodies in media. Her research has recently extended to embodiment and creative expressions of affect in media. As an acafan, she is especially interested in media fandom with a focus on transmedia and the gendering of fannish practice.
