Assistant Professor of Media Studies at Northeastern Illinois University
Shayne Pepper teaches courses in media studies in the Department of Communication, Media, and Theatre at Northeastern Illinois University. His research agenda is at the intersection of popular media, political activism, and public service. In particular, he studies the history of HBO’s engagement with the AIDS epidemic. His work has appeared in "Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies," "Nebula", and "FlowTV." He has also contributed book chapters to several edited collections, and he is currently working on a book project focused on HBO’s HIV/AIDS programming.
